Please be careful strimming

Cawthorne Hedgehog Rescue and Care Centre has recently received a hedgehog from near the playground in Silkstone which appeared to have been caught by a strimmer. The hedgehog was in a very bad way when it was found, with a smashed leg which had turned to gangrene and was covered with maggots.  Unfortunately, the hedgehog was past help and Allan and Anita did the kindest thing for it and took it to the vet to be put down. This is a distressing story and we’d like to urge you to look carefully before starting any strimming, as hedgehogs can be sleeping in long grass. Thank-you.
